MY STORY

Hello everyone, thanks for visiting my travel blog. If you have clicked on this page I'm sure you would like to know a little bit more about me and why / how I decided to start traveling.

So here is goes,

My first travel experience started when I was young, my grandmother and I used to travel to Florida every other winter to visit my great-grandmother and go to Disney etc. I caught the travel bug young and wanted to be a flight attendant SO badly! I would watch View From The Top everyday on repeat!

Once I was old enough to go to college I decided to take Hospitality & Hotel Management allowing me to work anywhere in the world. Once I had graduated school I was feeling somewhat defeated because of how "hard" I thought my dream was going to be to accomplish, I started feeling down because I had no experience, couldn't speak 3 languages, etc. All things I thought I needed to accomplish my dream.
I knew I needed to start somewhere but had no idea where! I had met amazing friends in college who really changed my life, they made me apply to the Jasper Park Lodge which was ran by Fairmont Hotels and Resorts.
 I knew this was a great place to start gaining the experience I needed to start traveling. I was super scared to leave home and tried to back out numerous times, luckily my friends wouldn't let me! So, I packed a suitcase full of clothes (only thinking I would be gone for a summer) I jumped in my friends car and we drove across Canada from Toronto, Ontario to Jasper, Alberta.
That summer was one of the best summers of my life! I LOVED the Fairmont and LOVED living in the heart of the Rocky Mountains. That summer job as a hostess turned into 3 amazing summers and 2 awesome but freezing winters in Jasper where I worked my way from a hostess up to a Food and Beverage Supervisor. While in Jasper I had the opportunity to travel to some amazing places & stay in gorgeous Fairmont Hotels.
I traveled to: Lake Louise, Banff, Calgary, Edmonton, Sun Peaks, Vancouver, Victoria and Seattle.

While in Jasper I met my amazing fiance! At this point in time we were just a couple, both looking for more in life and had gotten somewhat bored in Jasper. We made the decision to move to the big city of Vancouver! I got my dream job at the Delta Vancouver Airport Hotel as a Food and Beverage Manager at the young age of 22! I felt AMAZING! I knew things were finally on the right track!

While in Vancouver my boyfriend and I were feeling very homesick, we were both from small towns and felt like the big city was eating us whole. We also had some family issues going on and decided it was best that we return to Ontario and be with our families.
 We packed everything into our little Mazda 3 including our precious cat Mia and hit the Trans Canada!

Once we returned to Ontario we settled in Northern Ontario in a beautiful little town call North Bay. We were surrounded by gorgeous lakes and beautiful scenery but there were NO jobs and we hated the life style!

After a very unfortunate phone call, we had found out my grandmother had passed away, my grandmother wasn't just my grandmother, she was my mother, best friend and hero. She raised me and made me the woman I am today. My world was crushed and I sank into a deep depression, I couldn't see a way out of the darkness. I am so lucky to have an amazing support system from my fiance and my best friends. It wasn't until I hit rock bottom I realized I needed to get back to my dream, traveling! My grandmother always told me she wished she had travel while she was young, she always wanted to be a flight attendant but life took her in a different direction.
My fiance and I decided,
LETS JUST GO!
We had nothing to lose, so we sold our townhouse, sold all our belongings and bought 2 one way tickets to Thailand.

& that's where my story ends right now, we are awaiting our departure flight with our backpacks packed and no travel plans other then a few placed we know we want to see.
